Ryadi Adityavarman has a multidisciplinary academic background including architecture, interior design, and historic preservation with professional practice experience in international projects from furniture to large scale building design.
In Indonesia, Ryadi received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Parahyangan, with additional formal studies in Interior Design at the School of Fine Arts at Institut Teknologi Bandung, and in Anthropology at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Universitas Padjadjaran.
In the United States, Ryadi received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Colorado, and a Master of Science in Architectural Studies degree from the University of Texas with graduate works in Environmental Building Systems at Virginia Tech.
Throughout his academic career, he has aspired to achieve holistic understanding of interdisciplinary design issues through a combination of western and non-western cultural framework of reference. He is particularly interested in issues pertinent to design education and creativity, culture-behavioral design factors, and design theory related to traditional and contemporary Asian architecture.
Previously Ryadi has taught as a full time faculty at several nationally ranked interior design and architecture programs in the nation including at Savannah College of Art and Design, Syracuse University, Wentworth Institute of Technology and Texas Tech University.
