Hyung Jin Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture/Regional and Community Planning at Kansas State University. His area of research interest is in the built environment and human behavior. Primary research topics include community design for physical activity, social & health-related perspectives in urban/rural settings, school environments, quantitative design methods, and GIS-based spatial analysis of urban form.
After receiving his Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Science from Texas A&M University, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Health Systems & Design at Texas A&M. Prior to pursuing his doctoral degree, He worked as an associate research fellow in various practices and research projects in urban revitalization, new town planning, and environmental planning and design at the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS) for five years.
