College of Architecture, Planning & Design

04.04.14

Message from the Department Head

Oh my gosh. What a week. I hope everyone had a chance to attended some or all of the presentations yesterday. What an educational and exciting day for our students and frankly, all of us. The same teams are meeting today in Topeka with the selection board and hopefully we will find out soon.

It is great to have our Professional Advisory Board in town today. The student (and faculty) turnout at the Ask and Architect panel was great and I think well received by the students.

Don't forget open house tomorrow. It would be nice to see as many faculty as possible in the building so if you can spare an hour or two, don't be afraid to hang out and see if you can help recruit future students or just share with others what your students are doing.

I do have some bad news to report. Laurie Hawkinson and I have continued our discussion on the Regnier Chair. Unfortunately she has several commitments next year that will preclude her taking on the chair. The good news is that she would  like to defer it to the year after as she really wants to work with us. This is definitely something I would love to pursue as I know she will bring a lot to our students. This does, however, leave us in a position of needing a candidate for the upcoming year. Please give this some thought and we will discuss on Tuesday.

I have to get back to the PAB meeting so have a good weekend and see you for sure on Tuesday.
