Message from the Department Head

Thank you to all who prepared for and participated in our IAPD Advisory Board events last Thursday and Friday! We are fortunate to have Advisory Board members who provide their time, knowledge and insights to help us grow in our understanding of the various facets of the profession our students enter, the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary to succeed in their pursuits, and the advise to help us as we consistently improve our preparation of students.

This week, the third year students are in Dallas accompanied by Professors Dave Richter-O'Connell and Steve Davidson; they will be visiting many firms, showrooms, and installations while there. Fourth year students are in Chicago on their field trip, accompanied by Professors Donna Fullmer and Dustin Headley. In addition to firm visits and tours, they will spend a significant and concentrated time in the Merchandise Mart, hosted by showrooms to dive deeply into new products and inspiration. If you are not already signed up for IAPD Facebook and Twitter, do so now to take advantage of updates from our field trip groups this week!

News and Events

The closing reception for the exhibition "In the Land of a Thousand Buddhas" (exhibit shown in the header above) on Friday was well attended by students, faculty, staff, administrators, Rotary members, IAPD Advisory Board members and other guests.  Funded through an Academic Excellence grant through the Provost’s office, the exhibit was a collaborative effort under the direction of Vibha Jani and including  graduate students Amanda Barker, Kurt Andre, Teresa Siegele and Adam Davenport who designed and installed the exhibition. Dustin Headley and Richard Thompson fabricated the life size Buddha.
