Message from the Department Head

We had some exciting news at the most recent Excom meeting in the college - Dean de Noble reported that the Notice of Requested Architectural Services was published in the Kansas Register - meaning that proposals from architectural firms will be submitted and interviews will occur potentially in late April. Once again, as with the process for interviews of the firms during the programming phase, the interviews will be "open" and you will be able to observe and learn. Many people have been involved in moving this project for Seaton Hall forward and we appreciate it!

Reminder

Please remember that if you are using spray paint or any spray adhesive to use it only in the paint booth. The booth is there for your use in order to avoid defacing or harming furniture and the building  so please make sure you use it.

News and Events

IDSA Students
The IDSA District Design Conference is being held on April 26th in Chicago for the Midwest District. The theme is Industrial evolution and it will be an exploration of the ways design has revolutionized how we live and work. Early registration continues until March 9th. Interested in going? Find out more information here or talk to Dave Richter-O’Connell.

WANTED: Media Recommendations
Faculty: Maxine is asking for suggestions from APDesign faculty for Weigel Library media purchases.   Dean de Noble has provided funds again this year to upgrade formats and/or to add new titles to our media collection.  This is a great chance for you to have available additional resources for the support and enhancement of your course curriculum.  Please use this opportunity to recommend new titles you want included in our collection to Maxine by the end of February.

Kudos

Congratulations to Dustin Headley for being selected to receive 5 Intel Galileo Development Boards. These boards are the first generation of Intel produced boards that are compatible with Arduino Micro Controllers.  It's an open source platform on easy to use hardware (intended for designers) for creating interactive environments + objects. If you want more information about them, talk to Dustin. Thank you to Casey Hoeve in the Libraries for bringing this opportunity to our attention in a truly collaborative spirit!
