Department Head Notes

Design Expo is a time for you to explore more than 50 firms: how they approach design projects, outlooks on the horizon as well as what they hope for in interns and beginning designers. We are fortunate to have more than 100 representatives of these firms, who have traveled from throughout the country to be here today - I hope you will take full advantage of this exceptional opportunity!

Last week was a bit of a whirlwind with the NASAD accrediting team on campus. I am pleased to report to you that the team reported during the exit interview with the Provost, Deans and Department Heads that they found a "strong dedicated community" and extended their appreciation for the tremendous time and effort by students, faculty, and staff who affected their visit. They especially noted our display of work, and indicated their appreciation with the clarity, care, and design of the display. While with us a short time, the team mentioned they felt a strong sense of IAPD's community, engaged and engaging students, committed faculty and staff, and the effective and healthy integrative structure of our curriculum. A huge and heartfelt thank you to each of you for your participation in this visit and process!

The header above is from the Kansas City Auto Show, and you see Allan Hastings is recruiting more students for us! All reports from the event and photos show active participation by all age groups as they learned about our college and department, and enjoyed some hands-on sculpting. Thank you to Allan as well as all of the students who participated.

Best,
Kathy
