Department Head Notes

Beginning today, you can take advantage of participating in final design reviews for IAPD studios. The range of projects throughout IAPD is fantastic and I can't wait to see each of the projects! See a schedule posted on the IAPD calendar outside of Seaton 203C. 

This week is also Safety Week, as brought to you by the IAPD Student Council - you will see a schedule of events in this newsletter - please participate and enjoy! The bottom line is that we want you to work hard, but also to be safe - in all respects.

We had a wonderful presentation from our Visiting Scholar Lin Li last week, as you can see from the photo below. Her presentation about the development of the Industrial Design profession in China was well-attended and truly enjoyable!

IAPD Safety Week

This week is Safety Week brought to you by the Student Council. Take a break from your school work and enjoy a breather with your fellow classmates!

Monday: Make your own snack mix at 8 pm in the McGraw Room- We will provide the trail mix supplies, you create your evening snack to make it through the night!

Tuesday: Wii Game night at 8 pm- midnight in the IAPD Crit Space. Come challenge your classmates and professors as the fifth years turn in their thesis projects!

Wednesday: Start your day off right with breakfast at 8am in front of the IAPD office. Please also attend some of the fifth year Product Design crits in the McGraw room starting at 8:00am 

Thursday:Walk Down Memory Lane 8pm- meet in front of the IAPD office.  We will provide tour guide to give tours around campus and Seaton for an evening break and to celebrate everyone completing their projects.
NEWH Scholarship

NEWH is offering $5,000 for their NEWH/Clifford R. Tuttle Scholarship Award to a student purusing a career affiliated with the Hospitality Industry in Interior Design.

Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library Competition 

A competition being sponsored by the Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library and the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) will push you and your designing skills to complete a residential and commercial project. Gain national coverage of your design through the competition and possibly win up to $5,000.

Weigel Notes

Students  - Weigel Library is still accepting applications for student assistants for the Fall 2015 semester.  Hours of employment typically range from 7 to 10 per week for Weigel assistants. 

An application form is available in Weigel, Seaton 323.    To be considered for employment a completed application must include a copy of your official KSIS fall class schedule using the "Weekly Calendar View".   Applications are due Tuesday, May 12, in Weigel.
