INTERNATIONAL WOODWORKING FAIR WINNER
The 2016 Design Emphasis Student Furniture Design Competition
Award Winners were recently announced for the International Woodworking Fair and among the winners were 2016 IAPD graduate, Zach Manuel.  He won the best of seating with his furniture piece he designed in Rod Troyer's shop class.

The Design Emphasis Award is recognized as one of the most prestigious awards for up and coming furniture designers in the industry.  Design Emphasis invites students from all over the US to participate in a furniture design competition offering over $10,000.00 in prizes.  Entrants must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate furniture design or wood products course and have designed the piece within the last 8 quarters.  The design cannot have been entered in any other competition prior to Design Emphasis.  The competition recognizes outstanding marketable designs in seating, commercial/office/hospitality, case goods, accent furniture and design creativity.

The final pieces featured in a special exhibit at IWF 2016 were chosen by a jury as outstanding examples of the practical applications of an art form from the submitted entries.  The pieces are judged by a panel of judges from manufacturing and design industries and academia.
