STUDENTS VISIT OFS BRANDS HEADQUARTERS
Eight IAPD students, including August Atzenweiler, Jamie Causey, Marina Dennis, Rebecca Keating, Lance Maine, Hana Robinson, Elizabeth Witsken, and Malia Young along with professor Neal Hubbell and department head Nathan Howe traveled to OFS Brands, a manufacturing company, in Huntingburg, Indiana on September 24. The Production Furniture for the Contract Market Research class spent two days touring the facility and learning about the company. Students also presented on their market research findings to OFS representatives along with a presentation given by professor Hubbell on the IAPD design process.

CAPSTONE STUDENTS ATTEND FIELD TRIP AND WORKSHOP
26 fifth year IAPD graduate students visited four Kansas City high schools including J. C. Harmon, Wyandotte, CAPS, and MIC on September 7. This visit was organized to enhance their understanding about school design. Currently they are working on re-imagining the high schools of the future as part of their Capstone Studio project led by professors Vibha Jani and Katie Hoke.
While touring these schools, IAPD students observed two different teaching models: traditional academic curriculum and how it shapes school environments and how new technology and project based, collaborative learning changes school environments. [MORE]
JANI'S PAPER ACCEPTED FOR PRESENTATION
IAPD Department Professor Vibha Jani's paper "Developing informal learning environments of tomorrow for institutes of higher education" has been accepted for presentation and publication at the 10th International Conference on Education, Research and Innovation (ICERI) being held in Seville, Spain November 16 -18. ICERI is one of the largest international education conferences for educators, researchers, technologists and professionals. More than 700 experts from 80 countries will get together to present their research projects.
