Curriculum Vitae

 

Jaeyoung is from Busan, South Korea. He holds a master’s degree from Seoul National University in landscape architecture (Urban design concentration) and a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Pusan National University. Prior to coming to Kansas State University (KSU), he worked as a landscape architect and urban planner for Dohwa Engineering, South Korea's largest engineering design firm. He managed numerous landscape and urban design projects, including urban parks, recreational, commercial, and community development.

He is interested in teaching and studying interactive and immersive visualization techniques specialized in landscape/urban design and research. In Fall 2020, he newly designed and instructed a course (LAR 741: AR/VR in landscape architecture) for graduate-level students at the college of architecture at KSU.

His current research focuses on landscape environment and mental health. He explores how urban and natural environments enhance psychological wellbeing of people using immersive 3D visualization techniques. In the summer 2021, he has involved in interdisciplinary health research as a research assistant at the Lee Kum Sheung Center for Health and Happiness at Harvard University. He is currently working as a research assistant at KSU, assisting professor Hyung Jin Kim for NSF funded project.
