College of Architecture, Planning & Design Awarded Funding to Expand Kansas City Urban Design Collective
MANHATTAN, Kan. — The Kansas State University College of Architecture, Planning & Design (APDesign) is proud to announce the approval of funding to support the expansion of the Kansas City Design Center (KCDC) and their model of using the power of design to help communities across the state of Kansas. A total of $125,000 per year for two years has been awarded to bolster this impactful initiative focused on urban design innovation and community engagement in Kansas City.
This funding represents a significant step forward in K-State’s continued commitment to regional engagement and design leadership.
The proposal, which was ultimately submitted solely by the College of Architecture, Planning & Design, emphasizes Kansas City as a strategic and foundational focus. The Provost’s Office, in collaboration with university leadership, fully supports this direction and understands the rationale behind this approach.
Looking ahead, as the KCDC extends its reach to serve additional communities throughout Kansas, university leadership encourages a One K-State mindset. Continued engagement and collaboration with other K-State colleges will be key to ensuring a unified and interdisciplinary approach to community-focused design and innovation.
