Message from the Director of Student Recruitment

Susan LannouThank you for your interest in the College of Architecture, Planning and Design (APDesign). I am your personal contact in APDesign. The priority deadline for application to APDesign for fall 2019 is February 1, 2019. Late applications are being accepted. For details, learn more about our application process and admission requirements. Please feel free to contact me with questions.

APDesign offers five-year accredited degrees designed for high school graduates and transfer students:

  • the Master of Architecture
  • the Master of Interior Architecture & Product Design
  • the Master of Landscape Architecture
  • the Master of Regional & Community Planning

All four degrees will lead to the respective professional licensing or certification in the states that require such exams.

We are a comprehensive college and also offer degrees for students who are college graduates.

If you seek a five-year accredited degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture & Product Design, Landscape Architecture, or Regional & Community Planning, your first year in the APDesign is spent in the Environmental Design Studies Program (ENVD). There are two options in environmental design studies:

  1. The studio option leads to a degree in architecture, interior architecture and product design, or landscape architecture.
  2. The planning option leads to a degree in regional and community planning. Both options provide an introduction to the design and planning professions.

For most students it is an introduction to a way of seeing and thinking about the environments we occupy. The studio option is more than drawing. The studio introduces the visual and verbal vocabulary employed in the creation, definition and communication of space.

I encourage you to schedule a campus visit. The best time to visit our college is on Monday, Wednesday or Friday during the academic year. Our current students tell us that their campus visit was the most important component of their college search.

If you would like to request further information, please fill out our information request form. You can email me at myapd@k-state.edu or call me at 785-532-1994.

Thank you again for your interest in our college. Please let me know how I can help you with your academic plans!
