The influence and the role that social media has on and plays within our modern day society and
culture has become a major concern. Taking into account the contributions of social media within
the development and context of an individual's body image, this project explores how a more
positive impact can be cultivated amongst individuals in a space intended to focus on social
connectedness in a refreshing light.
This design for a Women’s Wellness Center is intended to explore how the effects of negative body
image among college-aged women could be combated by the integration of social connectedness
within such a facility. The fostering of positivebody image through the design of an
all-encompassing well-being center for college-aged women will serve as a preventative solution
against negative body image and encourage the pursuit of a more holistic wellbeing.
