The Summer Design Experience will be packed with fun learning and design thinking exercises, demonstrating and utilizing many of the communication and design processes that are so much a part of the collaborative design world. Design matters!

Summer Design Experience is a time to foster relationships with new friends and learn all that you can in three short days about the professions of architecture, industrial design, interior architecture, landscape architecture and regional and community planning. By registering, you agree to abide by the K-State Principles of Community. Additional expectations are outlined in the APDesign Consent and Waiver Release form, which will be provided to all parents/guardians of registrants via email.

What should I bring to Summer Design Experience?

• The most important items to bring with you to Summer Design Experience are comfortable walking shoes and clothing. Remember, our hands-on program involves doing a variety of activities. We want you to be comfortable!

What is the nearest airport to K-State?

• Manhattan Regional Airport (MHK) is 20 minutes from the K-State Campus. They offer direct flights to/from Chicago O'Hare (ORD) and Dallas Forth Worth International Airport (DFW)
• Additional airports include Salina (SLN), Kansas City (MCI) and Wichita (ICT).
• If your student will be traveling alone, their flight MUST arrive at MHK between 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 23rd. Transportation will be provided to campus.

Does a parent/guardian need to be present at check-in?

• Students who will be driving themselves or arriving to campus with a friend will need to ensure that they have all required forms and parent/guardian signatures at check-in. Students will not be allowed to check-in to Summer Design Experience without all required forms. Parents can email complete and signed forms to myapd@ksu.edu prior to the first day of camp.

Where should I park my car?

• On-campus parking will be available to you during the event. In your participation form please indicate if you need a parking pass. Final parking confirmations will be emailed to you several days before you arrive to campus. There may be an additional cost to park on campus.

What is the cancellation policy?

• If cancellation occurs prior to May 15th, you'll receive a full refund.*
• If cancellation occurs prior to June 1st, you'll receive a partial refund.*
• Any cancellation after June 1st will not be eligible for a refund.
  *There is a $20 non-refundable processing fee.

Can I come and go from the program?

• Once you check-in we require that you stay with the program. Most of what you do will be in groups where you actively engage and work on projects. If you have siblings or relatives nearby they are welcome to join you on campus during the lunch hour, but students will not be allowed to leave Summer Design Experience for the duration of the program.
