Project Title: Southwest Manhattan Planning Area
Professor: Howard Hahn
Project Description: This studio explored land conservation planning where development is concentrated so natural systems are protected and set aside as a scenic and recreational amenity. “Placemaking” was a major emphasis and student plans spanned a variety of development themes: residential co-housing, a regional retreat, school and church sites, a vineyard, and a creative arts campus. Due to the steep terrain of the site, site plans integrated development with the landform to minimize site disturbance and elevate aesthetics.
