Academic Advising
Academic advising in APDesign is a partnership between students and academic advisors. Advisors engage students in their educational planning, teach them how to navigate college and university resources, and encourage them to take responsibility for decisions about their academic progress.

After the open add/drop period ends each semester, an advisor hold is placed in your KSIS Student Center. If you want to make a change to your schedule (add or drop a class), contact your academic advisor about making the change. Also, you are required to meet with your academic advisor each semester before you enroll for classes. This is a time for you to ask questions and to be sure you are on track within your academic program.
- Review the APDesign Academic Advising Syllabus (pdf) for information about the goals for your specific studio year.
- Check the curriculum guide for your specific degree program to see what classes are required for the upcoming semester.
- View your Degree Audit (DARS) (opens in new window) report in your KSIS Student Center and compare to the curriculum guide to determine what courses you still need to complete graduation requirements.
- If general electives or professional support electives are listed for the upcoming semester, check out the course schedule for a listing of what is offered and bring a few ideas with you to your advising appointment.
Information about degree requirements can be found for each degree program by viewing the curriculum guides.
