APDPro Mentor Program - Information for Students

Information for Students

Design your future. Participate in the APDPro Mentor Program.

The mission of the APDPro Mentor Program is to afford design and planning students the opportunity to learn from skilled and practiced professionals who can help guide them and provide advice as they transition to their career.

Our APDPro Mentors are alumni and friends of the university with proven expertise in the design, planning and related professions.

Mentee Requirements

To apply to be matched with a professional mentor, you must:

Be a current 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th year student in APDesign (as of 2022-2023 academic year)
Be willing to connect with your mentor at least once a month via phone, email, text, video chat or in person

Before you are matched with a mentor, you will be required to attend an APDPro Mentor Program orientation. Please note that the APDPro Mentor Program is not a job placement program. There should be no expectations that a job or internship will develop out of this experience.

WildcatLink Platform

Recently, the APDPro Mentor Program transitioned to a new web-based platform, WildcatLink, which also hosts mentoring programs across campus. Features of the platform include improving communication between mentor/mentee pairs via specific goals, a discussion board and more resources, as well as the opportunity to network with other professionals on the platform.

In addition to being in a formal mentoring relationship, all APDesign students can join the WildcatLink community to ask questions of and gain advice from available professionals on the platform via "Flash Mentoring" (one-time interaction via student's request).
