Degrees and Programs

The APDesign Difference

APDesign offers multiple paths into the professions of architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture, industrial design, regional and community planning, and community development. APDesign offers both on-campus and online degrees. On-campus degrees provide two different paths to master's degrees in five professional programs.

  • Most freshmen and transfer students complete a Common First Year in Environmental Design Studies. This foundational year introduces the disciplines of APDesign and cultivates knowledge and skills for student success. After successful completion of the first year Environmental Design Studies, students pursue degree programs of their choice.
    • Regional and Community Planning is an exception; these students may take a non-studio option in their first year.
    • Real Estate & Community Development students follow a four-year curriculum that does not include the common first year.
  • Prospective graduate students who already hold a bachelor’s degree apply directly to their program of choice.
  • The Master of Science in Community Development is an online graduate degree.
