Zhan Chen is an assistant professor and practicing architect. Prior to joining the department in 2022, he was a lecturer at Georgia Institute of Technology and a visiting assistant professor at Auburn University. His practice, research and teaching focuses on urban housing typologies that demonstrate unique possibilities for high-density living. Currently, his writing and design work concentrates on socially and environmentally innovative housing strategies, with an emphasis on shifting demographics and inclusive forms of cohabitation. Zhan received his B.S. from Washington University in St. Louis and his M.Arch from Rice University.
