Francis D. K. Ching, an architecture and design graphics writer and Professor Emeritus at the University of Washington, held drawing workshops Sept. 14-16 for APDesign students. Associate Professors Ryadi Adityavarman, IAPD, and Lorn Clement, LARCP, have secured funding for a series of lectures and design drawing workshops in the fall semester of 2015.
The LARCP Advisory Council was on campusSeptember 17 and 18. Members attended events with both students and faculty during their stay. The Council also participated in mini-Pecha Kucha with the graduating LARCP class at APDesign West for students and faculty.
Kate Kennen, Founder and President of Offshoots, Inc. in Charlestown, MA, held a lecture for planting design students on Sept. 30.
FACULTY CONTRIBUTIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
MLA Design 2 students were out sketching with Associate Professor Kingery-Page.
LARCP Professors Jessica Canfield, Lee Skabelund and Katie Kingery-Page, along with Dr. Stacy Hutchinson of Biological and Agricultural Engineering secured a $20,000 grant to K-State from the EPA. The funds will be used to conduct green infrastructure monitoring at two on-campus sites - the rain garden at the International Student Center and the Meadow.
Associate Professor Blake Belanger presentedRepresenting Resilience: Applications of Graphic Communication in Rebuild by Design on Sept. 25. The presentation was the first LARCP colloquium of the 2015-2016 year.

Assistant Professor Alpa Nawre will participate in the Journal of Architectural Education editorial board meetings Oct. 1-4 in Portland, OR.
