Message from the Department Head
Welcome back to the faculty and students who were in Dallas and Chicago last week! We look forward to hearing more about each of the firms visited and facilities toured at the Pecha Kucha-style event in the Pierce Commons on October 15. We so appreciate the learning that comes from each of the visits, and the time of each of our alumni who make these visits so meaningful.
Check out the article in the K-State Today regarding the internship exhibit.
News and Events
A huge congratulations to Josef Lang, we had a note from DIS: Each summer semester we recognize one outstanding student in each discipline (architecture, interior architecture, urban design, graphic design and furniture design) with an Award of Academic Excellence. The awards are given to students who have distinguished themselves through diligence, commitment, academic performance, and ideally a student who contributes to a positive, collaborative learning environment in class.
I am pleased to inform you that Kansas State University student, Josef Lang, was awarded the Furniture Design in Metal Academic Excellence Award for the Summer 2013 semester. He was one of seven (out of 141 total students) to receive the DIS Design Excellence Award. We are very proud of Josef and this great achievement and hope you will join us in congratulating him.
Please join me in congratulating Josef, and thanking him for representing us so very well!

These two projects, in true sense embodied the spirit of camaraderie, collaboration and excellent team work.
