Imagery from Matt Spaniol's Poster presentation for the first annual APDesign Research Symposium is shown in the header above. Matt presented the research which forms a basis for programnimg of his thesis project next semester. Several IAPD students participated in the event Saturday. Linda Sorrento, National Academy of Environmental Design a special guest for the Symposium, delivered the keynote presentation.
As we approach upcoming breaks in the semester, I urge you to be vigilant about reporting any strangers wandering (especially into studios) Seaton and Seaton Court and about keeping studio doors locked when nobody is present.
Current Projects
IAPD Alumni Kayla Sorensen (2012) and Scott Schmidt, both Industrial Designers with HON, partnered in the Mobile Worker/ Mobile Office project with IAPD 3rd year students (Dave Richter-O'Connell's studio). The final review occurred on Friday and the full-scale prototypes are still set up in two locations: Seaton Court 106D (outside the Laser Room) and Seaton Court 114C - I encourage you to check out these well-conceived and crafted office environments!

Reviews occur this week on Monday and Wednesday afternoon from 1:30-4:30 in Seaton 104 for Ryadi Adityavarman's section of 2nd year studio's Artist Loft Project.
IIDA Student Sustainable Design Competition
Check out the IIDA Student Sustainable Design Competitionhere. You can submit a studio project, and it is open to IIDA student members and non-members. Must be submitted by November 15 so don't delay!
The new Form 1 3D printer (the first of two) is in and set up! It prints using an UV cured resin with layer thicknesses that are measured in Microns (one micron = 3.93700787 × 10-5 inches, not the Pens). If you want to print or just check it out, contact Dustin (it's in his office printing things as you read this). Dustin Headley Seaton Court 219.

2014 American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers Graduate Research Fellowship $7,500 Award
Matriculated full time graduate students are invited to submit a proposal for a fellowship to fund a research study focusing on healthcare interior design issues. The American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers (AAHID) fellowship is open to all graduate-level students who are interested in research on healthcare interior environments.Learn more here.
