Message from the Department Head
Our hearts and prayers are with the Shubert family as they deal with Cyrus' treatment for the probable diagnosis of neuroblastoma. If you wish to send cards to Lisa and her family, just drop them by the IAPD office and we will make sure they receive them.
On another note, Katrina Lewis shared some recent research with me about the importance of sleep. Did you know that sleep clears the mind and consolidates memories? With appropriate amounts of sleep, your chances for an "Ah-Ha!" moment increase. If you are following our Tweets, you have been receiving gentle reminders to move, get away from your desk for five minutes, and to walk around. In the interests of your health and productivity, please do get regular sleep.

Open House Update
The third year class is working very hard to make this year’s open house the best possible and they need your help! They are looking for past and current projects to put on display. They want projects in all forms from glass studio, automotive design, digital fabrication and all others as well. Third year students will be available to pick up projects every Wednesday from 1:30-2 until spring break and they will store them in Seaton 206. Professors, this includes you - if you know of a great piece of work in the archives, grab it or ask a third year to grab it. For more information, please contact Amanda Sloup (amanduuh@k-state.edu).
Current Projects
3rd year update
The third year class has been busy exploring the world of parti which, after understanding how to generate the form and relating it a project, they will incorporate into their Restaurant and Retail space design in studio. During their workshop class, students are finishing the coin cups that have been sculpted on the lathe while others are constructing and designing their joinery boxes. Last Friday (February 21st), the BCSIA class took a trip to Fort Riley to see construction in action! They viewed the site and construction in process for the new school, and to see how everything is inter-related in the construction process.
Thank you to the students and faculty who participated in the multi-disciplinary teams addressing the multi-cultural center on campus this weekend. Four teams participated and each was composed students representing the varied disciplines in our college.
