Message from the Department HeadLast week, I was fortunate to attend a symposium sponsored by IFI (International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers) focused on policy, design, and the economy. I'll share more about the symposium in the near future, and you can access IFI at this link:
This week I will officially take office as President for IDEC and am so pleased to be able to serve the IDEC membership in this capacity. The role of education to the profession cannot be underestimated, and in addition to providing the foundation of professional knowledge, design educators are additionally acknowledged by students for igniting a passion for design in them. Design educators who belong to IDEC have opportunities to network, present scholarly and creative work in a rigorous and competitive environment, and learn best practices from excellent educators from across North America.
As we progress toward the semester's end, please be vigilant about your personal health and wellbeing. The IAPD Student Council has activities planned to help you in this regard. Keep your energy high, and continue to do your best work in a focused manner.
