DEPARTMENT HEAD NOTES

As we enter week 2 of the semester, we do so in an active way. SPARK kicks off tonight and you won't want to miss it or the two informational meetings preceding it! I hope you took the opportunity to fill in the survey left on your desk by SPARK organizers - this is an incredibly exciting undertaking.

Thank you all for your tremendously positive attitudes - one of the things I love about IAPD is the resilience, the positive nature, and the inventiveness of our students, faculty, and staff!

TONIGHT!

Tonight is an evening of getting yourself involved! Student Council informational meeting at 6:30, followed by an IIDA informational meeting at 7:00. After those two meetings you can attend the SPARK tutorial at 7:30. All these activities have been scheduled so you don't have to pick and choose. You can attend all three of them at APDesign West. See you there!

INSURANCE CARDS

We need to have an insurance card on file for all IAPD students. Due to the nature of our program, the tools used for your projects, and the field trips we take, insurance cards are required. Please bring yours in to the office in Seaton 251 so we can put a copy in you file. Let's get this done in the next week or so.

SPARK PLUG

Jump start your semester with some SPARK notes on how to sketch with confidence and tell a story with your process work. Our first tutorial is tonight (8/31) at 7:30 pm in the classroom space by the fifth year desks at APDesign West. We are ecstatic to see you there! Not to tantalize your taste buds, but some awesome post-dinner snacks will be provided. Bring your favorite drawing pen. Also, be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram @sparkiapd. If you see your classmates doing some awesome sketching, we'd love to see and share it!

IAPD STUDENT COUNCIL WANTS YOU!

Interested in becoming a member of the IAPD Student Council? If so, there will be an information meeting on Monday (8/31) to discuss the role and responsibilities of each officer and member. The meeting will be help at APDesign West in the corner IAPD classroom at 6:30pm. Elections will be held later next week, so anyone thinking about joining is encouraged to attend this information session.

ADVANCE DISTINGUISHED LECTURE SERIES

Lisa Heschong will be giving a lecture on Daylighting Frontiers, September 21st, 5:00-6:00pm. The lecture will be in the Leadership Building in room 114. You can read more about her upcoming lecture here.

IIAD 3rd ANNUAL DESIGN WARS

If you are interested in competing in the 3rd annual IIDA Design Wars find yourself a team of 3 and register now. The event is FREE and open to 2nd-5th years. You must register by 9/14/15. $2000 Cash prize for the winning team.
