This week we're continuing our tutorials on the Adobe Creative Suite. Up tonight: Illustrator! We'll be breaking down the basics, walking through major differences between the programs, and then charretting a logo design: showing you how to digitize a sketch and get it presentation ready. Get ready for a little friendly competition and general good time! Because of Mock Interviews, we'll be meeting at 7:00 pm. |
HELP WANTED FOR COLOR + COUTURE PRODUCTION |
As most of you know, Color + Couture is fast approaching this Friday. Production on the garment is well on its way, but any assistance in the construction is more than welcome! Even if you are not a member of IIDA stop by to help for an hour or two and have a hand in creating something to be seen by 900+ members of the Kansas City design community. Please contact Erin at 402.310.4871 or eheiden@ksu.edu if you wish to help out. |
Color + Couture is a wonderful annual event held by the International Interior Design Association where models display fashions, made of material samples, created by student and professional teams alike. It is filled with food, fun, and awesome networking opportunities. Last year's tickets sold out and over 900 members of Kansas City's design community attended. Our IIDA members have been hard at work on constructing a garment using wallcovering samples to celebrate the "Cityscapes" theme of this year. Join us in supporting the defending Judge's Pick and People's Choice winners in the 10th annual Color + Couture event: Friday, October 23 6:00 pm - 11:30 pm Kansas City Starlight Theater Tickets are $30 for students and $25 for IIDA members. You can purchase here. |

MOBILE ENVIRONMENT PROJECT CONTINUES |
The mobile environment project is moving right along. The students have been broken down into work groups. Each group has a specific component they are working on that entails sketching the relaxation pods and lounges; floor plans and alternate layouts for group working; or ideation and concept differentiation. You can follow their blog to watch this project progress. |
The 5th years have been working hard on our Farm Rehabilitation Center project in partnership with Mr. Gary LaGrange. Our designs will be submitted with his business plan to hopefully become a real program that helps veterans with PTSD and other related issues. In the last week of September, a few students from our studio traveled to Denver and explored a handful of firms and met up with IAPD alumni in the area. ~ Diana Blom |
