HAPPY HOLIDAYS
My warmest wishes to each of you for a restful and joyful holiday, and my sincerest appreciation to you for your patience and resilience as we have navigated the semester!
KUDOS
CONGRATULATIONS to Caleb Amundson and Alex Marschman for being named Semi-finalists in the NEXT competition.  We are so proud of Garrett Steinlage too for being named Honorable Mention!  There were over 700 student entries and for IAPD to have 3 in the top 10 is just incredible.  Your hard work is paying off. 
PENNY WAR RESULTS
The IAPD Student Council would like to thank all who participated in penny wars!  Together we raised a total of $103.19 for the Ogden Friendship House of Hope.  The money will specifically go to support the children of the community with the purchasing of lice shampoo, new underwear, needed school supplies, small items and treats to reward the kids for good behavior.  Thanks for all your generosity!
 
5TH YEAR UPDATE
The 5th years are "grinding" away at the last few projects of the semester including their shop furniture pieces, thesis programming books, and capstone studio books.  In the past week they presented their SAVE Farm Rehabilitation projects at the Beach Museum to soldiers, veterans, psychiatrists, K-State Department of Agriculture personnel, Farm Bureau members, local frm owners, chefs and professionals from Steelcase, Populous, Hoefer Wysocki and Katalyst.

OPPORTUNITIES
DURKAN DESIGN COMPETITION
Discover your eye for design, specific to the hospitality industry.  Show us your view, and your own take on carpet design.  Think outside the box and make the typical carpet design for hotels something different.  Show us what you've got and tell us how you got there through your eyes.  Application deadline is February 26, 2016.
 
2016 ZINC CHALLENGE
Interzinc is hosting a competition to design a suitable product or tool that takes advantage of the properties of zinc die casting for use in the environment.  All information for this competition can be found on their website. The Deadline is March 1st.
