Today is the last day to complete the K-State online application to be considered for a scholarship.  Application materials are available here. If you wish to be considered for any need-based scholarship, you must also complete the FAFSA by March 1st.  You may find the link through the Office of Student Financial Assistance website or online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Design Expo is right around the corner, March 4th!  APDPro is offering opportunities to help you make sure you are ready.

This event is required for 2nd year APDPro Students.  Learn how to create a portfolio that will get you noticed by future employers.

Career and Employment Services will be available to help critique your resume.  This event will fulfill a Special Topic Event or Transition to Career requirement.

2016 Design Expo Firm Locations have been announced.  The firms may or may not be hiring for all locations during the Expo but you should check out the locations of the firms.  The list of same day interviews at Design Expo has been announced.  The list is subject to change the day of the event.

This past week 5th year had the honor of spending some time in studio talking with John Rice about where he is now and what he is up to in the work force.  He is currently living in New York working for Barneys installing their window displays.  He is still in search of a home for manufacturing his steam bent chair.  Rice also brought his current work in progress, a moped restoration, which he seems to be very passionate about.  5th year enjoyed seeing where a non-traditional alumni has ventured in the work force.  In 5th year studio they are ramping up in the conceptual design phase, nailing down adjacency diagrams and figuring out forms and function for their products.  In their Contemporary Design Seminar taught by Katrina, they are zooming with alumni discussing topics such as what to expect the first year in the job field, terms of employment and negotiating, networking and entrepreneurships.  They are also working on their concepts for their design videos due during the semester. K-State is offereing a speed-reading & memorization workshop for all KSU students to help them with their studies.  The sessions are recorded and can now be viewed online.  You can register here.
