IDSA MIDWEST CONFERENCE PRESENTATION

Zach Manuel made his Student Merit Award presentation to the IDSA Midwest Conference crowd of about 100 Industrial Design professionals, students and faculty this last Saturday at the University of Illinois-Champagne Urbana. There was an audible 'gasp/OMG' amongst the audience when he got to the slide showing his full scale trailer build! He ultimately didn't move further in the competition but did an excellent job of representing himself and IAPD in our first foray into the Student Merit Award Competition! He and Dave Richter-O'Connell got a lot of compliments over the course of the conference about Zach's presentation, his body of work, our program and our first SMA participation. Be sure to congratulate Zach when you see him! Onward and upward for the IDSA/KSU Student Chapter.

Dave Richter-O'Connell was named the IDSA Kansas City Chapter Co-Chair this week. He will be serving/supporting the newly elected KC Chapter Chair, Dan Hamilton (IAPD 2015 grad Morgan Stafford's cousin!) The KC Chapter serves professionals and schools in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Arkansas, K-State, KU and Iowa State. Congrats to Dave!

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Are you interested in working in Weigel Library this summer? All current student assistants are leaving campus due to graduation; internship; and real-live jobs! So Maxine doesn't have anyone left to help this summer. Summer hours in Weigel will be Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm, with no weekend hours. Maxine needs two assistants - one for the mornings and one for the afternoons. Summer employment will run from Monday, May 16 to Friday, August 19. To be considered for employment, complete an application, available in Weigel, Seaton 323. Application deadline is Friday, April 29.

FACES OF CIDA VIDEO SUBMISSIONS

CIDA is launching an initiative to collect and display short videos about the value and importance of an accredited interior design education. It is called "Faces of CIDA" and selected videos will be featured on the CIDA website with the aim to provide an informative, engaging visual resource for prospective students, parents and faculty members. If selected you will receive a $200 Amazon gift card. It is open to faculty and students. For more information or to enter click here.
