5th Year Capstone farm visit as they continue their work on their SAVE project.
FIELD TRIPS
IAPD wishes safe travels to our 3rd and 4th years as they head out on their field trips.  3rd year will spend the week in Denver and 4th year will split time between Chicago and Grand Rapids, Michigan.  2nd years will spend Wednesday in Wichita on their field trip.  This is a great opportunity for you all to network and expand your design knowledge.  Have fun and enjoy this learning opportunity.
5TH YEAR STUDIO UPDATE
5th year are still in the research and analysis part of their capstone studio project for The S.A.V.E. Farm. They have visited the site, both Fort Riley hospitals, and are planning to visit Kramer Dining Hall and the K-State Bee Keeping facilities in the coming weeks. They have had a lot of visitors in studio such as the owners and founders of the S.A.V.E. Farm organization, occupational therapists, physical therapists, soldiers and music therapy experts to help them to design a better campus.  Also, the 5th years have established a GoFundMe account to help raise money for them to present their selected research abstracts at the International Conference on Education, Research and Innovation in Spain in November.  If you'd like to help them you can see their gofundme page here. Thanks to Nicole Baith for this update.
4TH YEAR STUDIO UPDATE
4th years are still working on their pet food company office designs in studio, narrowing down their ideas for shop projects, and getting assigned groups for class assignments in both professional practice and design research.  They are very excited to leave for Chicago, IL today for their adventures week-long adventure. When they return they will have just one week to finish their studio projects with the deadline being Oct. 3rd.  Thanks to Sloan Satterlee for this update.
3RD YEAR STUDIO UPDATE
The 3rd years just finished up mid crits for their discovery toy. 3rd year is currently on their field trip to Denver for a week where they will visit firms and tour a few of Denver's iconic attractions.  Thanks to Kaitlyn Edge for the update.
2ND YEAR STUDIO UPDATE
2nd year just finished their Path, Procession, Place project and received the Tiny House project information this past Wednesday. They are taking two field trips to see Tiny Homes here in Manhattan, as well as the 2nd year trip to Wichita, Wednesday the 21st. They are going to see the Frank Lloyd Wright house, visiting SJCF firm, and going to Exploration Place. Thanks to Meredith Hill for the update.
COLOR+COUTURE
Color + Couture will not meet this week since the 3rd and 4th years are on field trips, but start thinking about how to construct our design for the next meeting.  On Tuesday September 27th the Knoll Studio and Knoll Textile reps will be coming to Manhattan to give a short presentation about their products and participate in the design process for Color + Couture! This is the first time the manufacturer rep partners have come to Manhattan. It is very exciting and everyone is encouraged to come, even if you are not involved in Color + Couture. They will be bringing food/snacks for those who attend their presentation, and for that reason you will need to RSVP.  Watch for the RSVP coming your way so they know how many will be attending. Exact time will be sent out with the RSVP, but it will be about a two hour time commitment in the evening.
WEIGEL LIBRARY TIDBITS
Gary Hilderbrand is on display!  Do you know this about Weigel Library?  One patron was surprised at the wide range of topics covered by Weigel resources. There are even children's books in Weigel Library!  Another patron was pleased to learn that a Hale book can be sent to Weigel saving time and steps. Ask the Weigel staff how to complete that request.
