Job Description Responsibilities: Support office and design staff in assigned intern based work, and may perform other duties as assigned and required. Assist interior designers with CAD or Revit drawings. Assist with FF&E specifications and purchasing. Follow up on purchase orders and pricing requests as needed. Assist with project colorboards. Internship start and stop dates are tenative and can be altered to fit student’s class schedule.

Required experience, knowledge, skills and abilities Qualifications: AutoCAD proficiency required. Revit knowledge is a plus. Proficient in Word & Excel. Completion of the third year of an Interior Design or Interior Architecture CIDA accredited program. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong ability to work as a team member. Highly motivated, self-starter who is comfortable communicating over the phone with our vendors. Must have attention to detail, excellent organization and communication skills. Responsibilities: The candidate will work within a dynamic creative environment, providing high-level 3D conceptual realization of design work in a variety of image and media formats.

AIAS ROOF DESIGN COMPETITION

Spread the word to your chapter, fellow students, and even faculty members about this easy & exciting roof design competition. Registration fee is waived for AIAS members. The chapter with the most submissions will receive one complimentary registration to 2012 AIAS Grassroots Leadership Conference! 

AIAS and IBHS are asking students and professionals to design a roof that will be resistant to hurricane force winds. Make it aesthetically pleasing and architecturally interesting. Beauty and unique designs are the goal. The real exposure of your talent, though, will come in making something engaging but also able to withstand powerful natural elements. 

The winning entries will be constructed to spec and the Insurance Institute for Business and Home Safety will test your design at their testing facility.

LEAN CONSTRUCTION INSTITUTE EVENT

Are you interested in the K-State Master Plan redesign? Stop by Weigel Library and check out some posters we’ve received from the Baltimore planning and architecture firm, Ayers Saint Gross. This firm will be creating a new Master Plan based on survey information, meetings with a series of stakeholder focus groups and open campus meetings. 2012 YUAN YE AWARD: INTERNATIONAL LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE GRADUATE PROJECT/THESIS COMPETITION

The Yuan Ye Award competition supports and sponsors design competitions to contribute to the education of all landscape architecture students.

Competitions offer a good opportunity to young graduates to show themselves and receive acknowledgement of their work and design level. Furthermore, participants compete among students from a broad range of background and are evaluated by diverse juries of experts. Competitions can also assist instructors with developing a repertoire of design challenges to use in studio courses.

We strongly encourage graduates to participate in this competition to exchange with others.

Submission deadline: May 31, 2012.

Qualification: Graduating students (undergraduates, masters and doctoral students)

What we want: Graduation project and graduation thesis about landscape architecture.

Deliverables: One image of per entry must be submitted as an email attachment.

Images must be 2560 x 1600 JPEG images. Graduation thesis must be submitted PDF as an email attachment. 

Evaluation: Graduation project/thesis evaluated both by diverse juries of experts and voted online. 

Awards: Certificates and prizes; online exhibition and exhibition; and publication of award-winning projects and theses.

ONE LAB: FUTURE CITIES

Terreform ONE is now accepting applications for ONE Lab 2012: Future Cities.

ONE Lab: Future Cities Summer 2012 will address the emerging discipline of global urbaneering by assembling a wide range of innovators from fields as diverse as architecture, material science, urban design, biology, civil engineering and media art.

ONE Lab provides a unique opportunity for students to learn from internationally recognized scientists, renowned designers and artists. This summer approximately 40 researchers will gather in New York City for four weeks of intense creative and scientific exploration.

ONE Lab: Future Cities Summer 2012 will feature a design studio, future cities seminars and future cities workshops to rethink the possibilities for urban life in our metropolis hereafter. The studio will be offered in two levels, one for professional designers and students enrolled in professional schools or departments of design, the other for students and individuals of varied experiences and backgrounds. All workshops are beginner level and no previous knowledge or experience is required.

The top 10 candidates will receive scholarships up to 50 percent of the tuition.
