This portable table is an abstraction of a flower vase. The legs represent the stems, the metal shelf as a water line, and the blank as the top of the vase. The table legs penetrate through the poplar table top the same way a flower breaks through the profile of a vase. The concept of growth is expressed as the legs protrude beyond the wood. When the vase has flowers it continues that vertical motif further.
