Note from the Department Head

The logo competition for our 50th Anniversary is complete as of 5:00 today, and the entries so far are wonderful examples of the incredible talent of IAPD students, alumni, and friends. 

Looking forward to our picnic Tuesday evening, remember, please feel free to bring a dish to share, but the most important is to come yourself and enjoy our community outside the classrooms of Seaton!

Student Involvement Meetings

Want to get involved? Here's your chance. Both Color and Couture and Student Council will be meeting this Thursday (September 4th) in the IAPD Crit Space (Seaton 202F). Both meetings will be informational so come and learn more about each!

Color and Couture: 7:15pm in the Crit Space (Seaton 202F)

Student Council: 8pm in the Crit Space (Seaton 202F)
*Representatives will be voted on during studio time Monday, September 8. If you are interested in pursuing an officer position or as representative of your class, please contact Erin Heiden (eheiden@ksu.edu) or Nichole Finke (nmfinke@ksu.edu) and bring questions to the meeting. 

All Department Cookout!

Reminder, the IAPD cookout is TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 2 from 5:30-7:30 at the Poyntz Shelter (see map below). There will be door prizes, food, and bring your frisbee or volleyball for fun! If you haven't RSVPed, make sure you do to iapd@ksu.edu before 2pm Tuesday. See you there - the weather looks quite promising!



Institute for Student Learning Proposals Due

The annual Institute for Student Learning Assessment is an annual Conference at KSU featuring best practice posters, sessions and workshops focused on the assessment of student learning. This year's conference will run on November 14th. Do you want to present this year? Proposals are due September 29th, click here for more information and for the agenda

IDSA Webinar

IDSA is hosting a webinar on Thursday, September 11th titled Evolving a Design Firm's Workflows (Solving Everyday Design Process Challenges). The webinar talks about Autodesk Fusion 360 and how it can be used in conjunction with design. FDA & USRG Proposals Due

Third Floor Tidbits - Weigel Library
 
Weigel Library has eight College of APDesign students employed as library assistants for the 2014 fall semester.  During the 77 hours a week Weigel is open, these students are in the library to assist patrons with their research and/or technology questions.
 
The student assistants are:  Benjamin Williamson (LA), Danielle DeOrsey (LA), Joe D'Elia (ARCH), Joe Foster (PLAN), Katherine Gutierrez (ARCH), Kristianna Johnson (ARCH), Rebecca Roberts (ARCH) and Taylor Lininger (LA).
 
Among the books that have recently arrived in Weigel are Ettore Sottsass - NK 1452 .Z9 S6813 2011; House with sixteen handmade doors: a tale of architectural choice and craftsmanship - NA 7238 .A77 P48 2014; and Lake|Flato Houses: embracing the landscape

Library Student Ambassadors 

K-State Libraries are looking for undergraduate and graduate students for the Libraries Student Ambassadors.  The application deadline is Friday, September 5 and students can apply online atwww.lib.k-state.edu/ambassadors.  Interviews will be scheduled with a select number of applicants for September 13, 2014.

Ambassadors will gain valuable leadership experience by serving as both advisers to the Libraries and representatives for the Libraries at social, cultural, and fundraising activities.  The expected time commitment is about four hours of service per month.
