Department Head Notes

Greetings!

Next week at this time, the NASAD Site Visiting Team will be on campus and visiting IAPD along with ID and Art programs. NASAD (as a reminder) is the National Association for Schools of Art and Design, they accredit universities and approve the programs offered within. NASAD has criteria (as it relates to us) for both interior design and for industrial design. While we are a graduate program and must comply with many additional criteria for NASAD approval as such, we also comply with those criteria for interior design and industrial design.

When they are on campus, they will tour our facilities, sit in on classes, and meet with faculty, students, and administrators. Having served as a CIDA site visitor, I assure you their time will be packed and they will be inundated with great information about all of our university programs related to art and design!

Congratulations to those students who participated in the IIDA event Portfolios + Professionals last week in Kansas City - you'll see their names below. We owe a big thank you to each of the design professionals who gave their time to make this event such a meaningful one for students.

DesignExpo is coming up rapidly, and many preparatory events are occurring to help you put your best foot forward - please advantage yourselves of as many of these events as possible. DesignExpo is for all of our students, from 1st through 5th year - and while you may not currently be searching for an internship or post-graduation position, you will make great contacts and just observing how the event works is extremely helpful for your future years.

Have a great week - participate in reviews for 2nd, 3rd and 5th years, all occurring during Wednesday through Friday of this week.

Best,
Kathy
