Internship Spring 2019 | Hight Jackson Associates

Rogers, Arkansas

Hight Jackson Associates is an architecture firm located in Northwest Arkansas.    Northwest Arkansas is one of the fastest growing regions in the country.  Our office is located in Rogers, AR and we are seeking creative and experienced architecture students for internships who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program.  Applicants must be eligible to graduate within one year after returning to school.  As an intern, you will be paid as a full time employee and your employment will be from January 2019 through May 2019. 

Our firm’s culture is based on collaboration, quality, and exceeding clients’ expectations.  Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate on design teams, produce high quality renderings, and participate in client meetings.  There will also be opportunities to learn construction administration duties at job sites throughout the region.  

Applicants need to have experience using Revit/BIM software and AutoCad.  You will also need to be proficient in using 3D Modeling software such as:   SketchUp, Rhino, 3Ds Max, or other modeling software equivalents.  Adobe Creative Suite experience is also recommended.

Internship - Spring 2019 | Gensler

What You Will Do During This Internship:

  • You will have an exciting opportunity to work on architecture projects as a fully collaborative member of a design team, participating in design charrettes and learning sessions focused on delivering a successful project for our clients, large or small
  • In addition to hands-on learning, you will experience educational sessions and mentorship opportunities that include lectures, project tours, vendor visits and a group project
  • You will also enjoy the rich culture of our firm and the broader office community through a number of events and learning opportunities focused on supporting your professional licensure efforts. 

Your Qualifications:

  • You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Architecture; NAAB accredited program highly preferred
  • You have completed your third year of an undergraduate program or first year of a graduate program
  • You are returning to your program after the internship and will be graduating within one year
  • You submit an online portfolio that demonstrates design process and innovative design solutions (PDF format with 2-4 work samples)
  • Experience using Revit required, AutoCAD, and/or BIM modeling software a plus
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • 3-D computer rendering skills (SketchUp, 3ds Max, and/or other modeling software)
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Hand sketching ability a plus

Requirements:

  • M.S. in Architectural Engineering or Master of Architecture in Building Science/Building Enclosures/ Historic Preservation
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Architectural Intern track
  • Interest in building enclosure design, repair, and retrofit and the integrated design and delivery of high performance buildings. A strong background in building façade and roofing assemblies. An understanding of building science and thermal analysis concepts as well as a knowledge of modeling building performance and sustainability.

Skills should include:

  • Microsoft Office (WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT)
  • Computer Aided Drafting/Design (AUTOCAD, REVIT, Rhino, Grasshopper)
  • Experience with building performance modeling, software preferred (ECOTECT, VASARI, ENERGYPLUS, EQUEST, DESIGNBUILDER, DIVA, IES-VE, THERM, WUFI)
  • Familiarity with exterior wall systems
  • Familiarity with roofing assemblies
  • Familiarity with building structural systems
  • Experience with working on suspended scaffolding and vertical heights

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Project Manager with project tasks
  • Review and organize project-related documents
  • Research building codes and industry standards
  • Write assessment reports
  • Perform field investigations, including non-destructive testing, travel required
  • Performance modeling of enclosure assemblies using different software
  • Analyze proposed repair/design options.
  • Design and draft repair drawings and details
  • Prepare construction documents such as repair drawings and specifications
  • Observe construction and installation of repairs/designs in the field, including quality assurance testing
  • Prepare site visit reports and meeting minutes
  • Interact with project clients, sub-consultants, and repair contractors

The Missouri State Historic Preservation Office is recruiting individuals whom may be interested in applying for consideration for an Architect I-II vacancy we have in our office. 

This position involves the review of state and federal tax rehab projects, Section 106 rehab projects, and Historic Preservation Fund grants; providing technical assistance to and creating educational materials for certified local governments and property owners; and monitoring and tracking covenants and easements. 

Applicants should possess the following qualities:

  • Knowledge of historic architecture and the Secretary of the Interior’s (SOI) Standards for Rehabilitation
