Haeyoung Kim is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Department of Interior Architecture and Industrial Design at Kansas State University. Her work investigates the intersections between objects, culture, and technology at scales ranging from products to architecture. With an emphasis on human-centered interaction, she explores new materials, digital fabrication, and physical computing to create new forms of physical and digital interaction promoting social and cultural exchange.
Prior to joining Kansas State, Haeyoung worked at Tellart as a designer and MIT Design Lab as a Design Research Associate contributing to conceptualizing and materializing experiences with emerging technology. She joined Rhode Island School of Design in Interior Architecture for a Critic and gained professional experience as an industrial designer at Arnell and RBW Studio in NYC.
Haeyoung holds a Bachelor of fine art in Industrial Design from Rhode Island School of Design and a Master's in Design Studies in Technology from Harvard Graduate School of Design. Her work from the Tangible Media Group at MIT Media Lab featured in conferences, and her personal works have garnered design awards.
