STUDENT WORK| Flint Hills Discovery Center

Students from IAPD 320: Product Design Studio 2 taught by Assistant Professor Steve Davidson and Professor of Practice Sebnem Demirkan collaborated with the Flint Hills Discovery Center to design interactive exhibits. The project's intent was to further the Discovery Center's mission to inspire people to celebrate, explore, and care for the Flint Hills. For the project, they defined their target audience, chose a concept or experience, and illustrated their exhibit using sketches and 3D modeling software. The interactive exhibits were designed for the second floor mezzanine gallery in the Discovery Center. Posters were on display on May 20 as part of the Flint Hills Festival at the Discovery Center.

DESIGN | Interim Director President Elect for TAID

Amie Keener, Interim Director for the Interior Architecture & Product Design Department, was sworn in on June 3 as President Elect of Texas Association for Interior Design. TAID is an association representing all the business and legislative aspects of the interior design industry in Texas.

PRESENTATION | Howe to Present at Chile

Associate Professor Nathan Howe's abstract "Data Age | Informing the Architects of Tomorrow" was accepted for paper submittal and presentation at The Ibero-American Society of Digital Graphics (SIGraDi) 2017 to be held November 11 at Concepción, Chile.

SCHOLARSHIP | Sustainable Cat Bed Design Contest

Tuft + Paw, a company that provides beautiful, well made furniture for house cats, is looking for a new way to think about furniture that helps cats, humans, and the earth. Got an idea? Show them your best, and you could win a $1,500 scholarship toward your education. The winning design will be produced in the U.S. and promoted as one of Tuft + Paw's new flagship products. It will also be donated to shelters across the country. The winner will be decided before September 1, 2017. Submissions deadline is July 31, 2017. Designs may be submitted online at Tuft + Paw.
