ANNOUNCEMENTS
LA and RCP students are working together during the month of October for a food drive. Each LA and RCP studio has been given a labeled box, and the studio that donates the most items will receive a prize, which will be announced later this month. Donations will be sorted and given to the First Lutheran Church of Manhattan at the end of October. Contact James Wood if you have any questions.
Students from both the K-State SCASLA and SPA chapters are participating in “Better Block KC,” which is taking place Friday, Oct. 4 during First Fridays in downtown Kansas City.
Students, faculty and staff are invited to listen to Wildcat Radio 91.9 for the Planning in Pop Culture's award winning radio special on "Planning and Pop Culture" Thursday, Oct. 3 between 4-6pm. The show features songs and movies selected and discussed in the spring intersession course and essays written by students on planning issues. James van Sweden passed away on Sept. 20. Remembering him brings to mind the hours he spent critiquing student work and talking about career possibilities with post-bac landscape architecture students when he lectured at K-State.
Green Action Fund proposals may be submitted now to the Office of Sustainability. Any student, student group, faculty member, or academic program can write a proposal to fund a sustainability-oriented project at K-State. To find out more click here.
The seventh session of the World Urban Forum, Urban Equity in Development- Cities for Life, will be hosted next year in Medellin, Colombia. The Forum is organized every two years by the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) for the discussion, promotion and design of sustainable housing and urban development policies and programs.
