Project Title: JC Harmon - Spark & Kindle Renovation
Professor: Vibha Jani
Project Description: JC Harmon High School located in Kansas City, KS was built in 1973. Since then, only a few renovations have been made to the building. The project intent was to give the school renovation suggestions to provide a better learning environment for the students. Using our knowledge of teaching and learning theories and cutting edge technologies, the concept of Spark & Kindle was born. Students bring the “spark” of inspiration, creativity, and willingness to learn to school everyday. This spark is fueled by social interactions, collaboration, reflection, and personalized learning. The school must provide for the students a kindling of resources in order to fuel that spark and turn it into knowledge and innovation. This design focuses on the inner "spark" of the building, creating a central learning core within the floor plan.
