Safety and belonging in educational spaces play a vital role in the lives of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) students. However, when it comes to designing learning spaces, BIPOC communities often do not have enough of a voice. To find new ways BIPOC students can feel safe and included, this thesis explores how interior architects can help people of color re-envision an existing educational building using cultural identity to challenge erasure.
