The Joy Dining Chair, or Breakfast Nook Chair as I like to call her, is as special and detailed as a modern family. The chair is full of contrasting moments that celebrate its concept: a modern heirloom. It is highly intricate while still beckoning you in as a warm and cozy place to sit and rest. It utilizing sustainable techniques and construction methods while maintaining a polished and classy appearance. It is a piece that could be passed down through generations. The concept is met and the analogy of family is successfully achieved through 3 design moves. (1.) Many pieces come together to form a unique whole. Wood scraps and small pieces join to form the skeletal structure of the chair that are then carved into beautiful curves. Individually punched loops of yarn form the entirety of the seat cushion as a punch needled fabric upholstery. (2.) All pieces come together as smooth and blended forms, embracing each other, and wrapping the user like a hug. (3.) The details of the chair have a depth that creates sentimental connections and meaningful experiences.
