The guideline for this Workshop II project was to create a piece of furniture (or accessory) that was inspired by a certain design style and could be easily knocked down. Knock down furniture is a type of furniture that can be easily disassembled and reassembled and can be reduced to 1/3 of its assembled size (also known as "flat pack").

The inspiration for this coat rack came from the mid-century modern style with its simplistic forms, though the final form was different from the typical mid-century style. The name Stix is derived from the three main "sticks" which hold the piece together. This one of a kind coat rack features an umbrella hook and leather-lined key bowl. The dowels unscrew from the base and shelf allowing for flat, compact storage. Made from oak and walnut, this piece is sure to make a statement for years to come.
