The goal of this project was to create a personal transportation device that promotes wellness and safety. This design approach is a hybrid that combines the youth of a longboard and the safety of a scooter. The name “Buffalo Coast came from Kansas’ state animal: the Buffalo and the saying “golden grass ocean” in reference to the long golden grasses on the flint hills plains. KSU is on the edge of this “golden ocean” and in historical buffalo territory, hence the name “Buffalo Coast”. Buffalo Coast is primarily centered around sustainability and environmental consciousness meshed with convenience and portability. Within this sustainable field we want to blend innovative design with traditional craftsmanship.
