APDPro
APDPro is a professional development program offered to you as an APDesign student. The mission of APDPro is to enrich your experience in APDesign and provide a competitive advantage as you transition to the workplace. The programs offered through APDPro help you develop the career skills employers are looking for via workshops, lectures, seminars, professional mentoring and leadership activities.
Successful transition to APDesign
- Career development
- Exposure to off-campus opportunities
- Future planning
- Personal enrichment
- Connection to professionals in the design and planning professions
- Successful transition from college to the workplace
Participation
APDPro is simple and flexible, students participate by attending professional development events throughout the academic year. These events include workshops, lectures, and activities that build career-ready skills such as portfolio development, resume building, professional communication, and financial planning. Faculty often expect or strongly encourage student participation in these experiences. The Ekdahl Lecture Series, for example, is a college-wide event that is highly encouraged and fulfills APDPro requirements. APDPro helps students intentionally track and receive credit for participating while building career readiness.
Benefits
APDPro provides a clear professional development timeline while creating meaningful networking opportunities with peers, alumni, and industry professionals. Participation is noted on your transcript, and students earn LinkedIn-ready digital badges each year to showcase their professional growth. Students who complete all APDPro requirements across their academic career receive special recognition at commencement, highlighting their commitment to career readiness and professional excellence.
Please note the requirements for the 2025-2026 academic year!
