Diversity, Equity & Incusion
- APDPro: Discovering & Dismantling Biases in Design + Planning
REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Presented by Babes Helpin' Babes, a diversity, equity & inclusion consultant that specializes in the creative industry.
You can’t change what you don’t know. Once you recognize a bias, how do you dismantle it and fix your behavior?
In this class, we will start with the basics:
- What is bias?
- What is conscious vs unconscious bias?
- What is intent vs impact?
Once we understand our biases, we can categorize them, learn from examples, and pinpoint how they show up in the architecture industry. We know these discussions aren’t always comfortable. It’s hard to recognize our own biases, let alone train our brains to dismantle them. After this class, you will have a better understanding of biases as well as the tools to recognize and combat them in your future workplace.
