The Dean's Advisory Council is an organization of leaders in architecture, planning, design and the allied professions, representing both alumni and supporters of the College. Primarily, this council serves as a forum for interaction between the design community and the College and provides a network system of support for the Dean and the College of Architecture, Planning & Design. Specifically, the Dean's Advisory Council:

• Provides a method of dissemination of information concerning the College, its faculty and students with the objective that council members will share such information with practitioners, alumni and supporters.
• Provides advice from the perspective of practitioners and industry leaders regarding long-range planning, support needs, curriculum and other issues affecting the College.
• Provides increased opportunity for interaction between practitioners, faculty and students, and an opportunity for increased involvement in College programs and activities.
• Provides leadership to the K-State College of Architecture, Planning & Design alumni in the form of service and financial support.

The mission of the APDPro Mentor Program is to afford design and planning students the opportunity to learn from skilled and practiced professionals who can help guide them and provide advice as they transition to their career.

Becoming an APDPro Mentor will give you the opportunity to connect with current students, play a part in developing future leaders in the design and planning professions and, hopefully, learn from the students as well.

Students participating in the program are 2nd-5th year students, as well as post-baccalaureate students.

The Fischer Guild (pdf)honors the vision and legacy of the college’s first dean, Emil C. Fischer, by bringing leaders from the design, construction, fabrication and allied industries into the College of Architecture, Planning & Design as strategic partners. Philanthropic gifts pledged or given to faculty and excellence funds qualify individuals, or firms, as members of the Fischer Guild. Members will have multiple opportunities to interact and engage with students and faculty of APDesign throughout the year via various activities that showcase APDesign’s design+planning research and outreach.

The Fischer Guild Summit will be a symposium that brings industry leaders to campus to discuss design trends and topics impacting the realm of design+planning. Members will have the opportunity to network with peers and learn how APDesign is on the forefront of issues impacting our environment and society.
