Interior Architecture and Industrial Design Furniture students design Seating in the Meadow
5th year graduate students design and build contextual seating elements for an on-campus meadow to bring attention to the quiet natural beauty of the space and make it a more intentional space for rest and observation.
Interior Architecture students re-design JC Harmon High School
The objective of this capstone project was a re-design of JC Harmon High School, a multi-cultural and diverse high school in the Kansas City area. Students were to focus on how the interior architecture would contribute in the development of diverse teaching and learning environments to assist in the intellectual and spiritual growth of students while assisting the faculty and administration in achieving their pedagogical goals. Additionally, students were to consider how an interior architect’s work is shaped, and in turn, shapes the global view of education to inform future designs of the teaching and learning environments.
Interior Architecture students collaborate with Sumner Academy of Arts and Science
5th year graduate students collaborated with Sumner Academy of Arts and Science to design a conceptual renovation and addition of their current facilities. This semester-long project included design efforts in landscape, general, and interior architecture, furniture, and product design. The final result was a contemporary institution that promotes a functional and joyful learning environment.
Interior Architecture and Industrial Design students redesign aTa Bus Stop
The Flint Hills Area Transportation Agency, or aTa for short, provides transportation for the Flint Hills region of Kansas. The Flint Hills aTa Bus Stop changes the perception of public transportation in the Flint Hills region, and this design’s appearance shows the identity of the community in a single glance.
