SEATON HALL RENOVATION UPDATE
Dear APDesign Community,
These are exciting times at APDesign!
As you are aware, we recently conducted a Request for Proposals for the Programming and Conceptual Design Phase for the Renovation of Seaton Hall (see http://capd.k-state.edu/newfacility). After receiving 40 inquiries from across the nation and world, a committee comprised of university officials and members of our college administration and faculty reviewed 29 excellent submissions from teams comprised of some of the world’s most exceptional designers. Needless to say, the winnowing process was difficult and highly competitive. Although we had originally intended to invite four firms to present, we found it impossible to select any fewer than these six finalists:
Ennead Architects (formally Polshek Partnership)
i.e./studio (360 Architects/el dorado, inc)
Helix with Ann Beha
Overland Partners in Association with Bowman Bowman Novick
Spillman Farmer Architects
Yazdani Studio of Cannon Design with Gould Evans
These submittals are available for your viewing pleasure and edification in Weigel Library.
The finalists will present on August 23, 2012, in the Alumni Center Ballroom ‘C’. Each team is allowed 50 minutes to present in a public forum, which will include members of the selection committee as well as all interested faculty, students and staff from the College of Architecture, Planning & Design. I hope you will attend as many presentations as possible and will urge our students to do the same. This is not only an opportunity for us to identify the best team to help us identify our spatial needs, but an excellent opportunity for our community to see professionals in action. It is left to each team if they would like to dedicate any of their time to questions in this setting. We will provide opportunities for faculty, staff and student comments and feedback through forms provided at each presentation. This information will be considered in helping us identify our final selection. Please note that each team will also meet with the selection committee in private following their public presentations.
Other firms submitting, but not forwarded as finalists include:

Best,
