ANNOUNCEMENTS

The MRCP Re-Accreditation visit will take place Oct 19-22, 2014. This is change from previous announcements.

This week’s LARCP Faculty Meeting will be for RCP faculty only. We will focus on accreditation issues and the community plan prep class.

SCASLA is hosting an informational social for the first years this Wednesday, Jan 29 at 5:30 pm in 106c. It is their goal to increase interest in the profession and the department. If you have a project that displays the breadth of the profession, both printed and digital projects, SCASLA would like to show it off during the social. Please email Corey Gorrell at cgorrell@k-state.edu with PDF’s or let him know if he can come pick up a printed project. All projects will be returned after the event.

Draft MLA Student Learning Assessment Goals are available in the KSOL LARCP Faculty>Academic Affairs>Assessment folder. LA faculty will review these during the Feb 6 LA faculty meeting.

DCE Development Grant proposals are due March 7. Click herefor information about the grants that can support your development of a course or research related to distance education. Development of MOOCs is supported. If interested, please discuss your plans with Stephanie during your annual evaluation meeting.

Your suggestions for notecard images are due to Courtney by Jan 31. Please email her high quality images, along with a 1-2 sentence caption for each giving credit to who created the work, the title and a short explanation.

The ACSP 54th Annual Conference Call for Papers is available here. Abstracts are due March 5, 3:00 am. The conference theme is Big Ideas, Global Impacts. The conference will be in Philadelphia, Oct 30-Nov 2, 2014.

The Teaching and Learning Center 2014 Teaching Workshop Actively Engaging the Brainwill take place January 31 and February 1. Dr. Jeanne Loeb from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill will present “The Brains Behind Teaching and Learning” and Dr. Jay Howard from Butler University will present “Why Won’t They Talk? Using Discussion and Active Engagement to Facilitate Learning.” The registration fee will be paid by our department using the department’s credit card. Print and fill out the formfor Jody to fill in and fax.LARCP friend, Annette Wilkus of SiteWorks is featured in a recent Forbes magazine post, CEO Series: If You Build It, She Will Come. She makes reference to our BLA ‘07 alum, Celine Anderson. Last year’s Design 2 studio visited the Highline with Annette.
