MD Shakil Bin Kashem (Muhammad Shakil Bin Kashem) joins the Regional & Community Planning program after serving as a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Shakil is a graduate of the University of Illinois Department of Urban and Regional Planning and the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. His research applies big data to disaster risk management, urban social vulnerability, and community resilience and adaptation. He will teach Knowledge Methods this fall and the Plan Making studio in the spring.
